People’s Artist of Russia.
In 1978, she graduated from the Leningrad State Vaganova Ballet School (Inna Zubkovskya’s class) and joined the ballet company of the Leningrad State Opera and Ballet Theatre (Mariinsky Theatre).
Asylmuratova’s repertory included the main classical roles: Odette/Odile (Swan Lake), Shirin, Mehmene Banu (Legend of Love), Kitri (Don Quixote), Nikiya (La Bayadere), Aegina (Spartacus), Medora (Le Corsaire), Zarema (The Fountain of Bakhchisaray), Juliet (Romeo and Juliet), Sylphide (La Sylphide), Masha (The Nutcracker), Raymonda (Raymonda), Giselle (Giselle), among many other. In 1983 she was awarded with the title of the Honoured Artist of Russia. In 1989-1993, she danced with the Royal Ballet in Covent Garden (Swan Lake, Giselle, La Bayadere, Raymonda, A Month in the Country, Manon, Romeo and Juliet). In 1995-1997, she danced in Marseille with Roland Petite’s Company (Coppelia, Carmen, Cheri, L’Arlesienne, My Pavlova, among others). She was a guest principal with La Scala Ballet Company and Paris Opera Ballet Company, ABT. In 2000-2013, she was Artistic Director of the Vaganova Ballet Academy in St Petersburg.
In 2001, she was awarded with the title of the Honoured Artists of Russia, in 2013 she was awarded with the Order of Friendship.
